This must have left burnmarks on my monitor and probably my eyes and brain too. Had it playing for hours, if not days at a time.

@Zyron
Thanks for telling us the name of the tune! I was just looking for some clues at noname.c64.org until I discovered this page.
AFAIK, some popular tunes might be more known because of the crack intros where they were used. For example, not everyone knows that one of the main tunes used by Eaglesoft was actually "Mounty Mick's Deathride" by Ben Daglish... and how many of us have played that game anyway? :)

Killer intro, just a short look onto the screenshot and I hear the music start smashing in my ears.
ps. the dir Zyron posted is for the High Voltage SID Collection hvsc.c64.org

That's right ZTH, it was composed by Markus Müller aka Superbrain/Gamma Cracking Force. At one point Edvin van Santen claimed to have made this, I guess we'll never find out why.

I always thought the intro music was made by a member of GCS (Gamma Cracking Service - which made outstanding demos). I do not recall which member made it. In one music demo GCS did, had a collection of several nice tunes, all made in the same routine as this one - perhaps even this tune was one of them, I do not recall it 100% but I think so. The last part had a picture of Bethoven on the last page, with animated stars going around the picture. One could chose between 1-6 songs. Anyone remember this?

Wow this all brings back memories, i started on the 64 in like 84 and The Force shortly after. Being Oz bound means we didn't get too many new Ozy releases lol

Best music ever! I remember recording this to a audiotape by putting the mic next to the computer speaker. I looked for this intro som years ago without success. But now I've finally found it again in a copy of The Train for C64. I'm using it as a ringtone on my cellphone. Kickass.

Hey Guys,
Once again, thanks for all the possitive comments you all have written here! I believe the - who did the music - is now cleared up, and that we did not steal it.
By the way, "Kyle" 2004-6-21, is right. We designed and I programmed a first version of this intro with a mild tech wave going through the logo. However, we had to skip that idea, be cause of technical problems with the US C64!!! And since we were modem trading across the Atlantic it was very important that the logo looked nice on both US and European C64s...
All the best - Lennart (my nick name was "Alpha" back then but I guess I never really used it?)

It appears that the tune in question was not done by EVS in the first place, but by Markus Mueller (Hayes).
EVS seemed to have mistaken the tune with a similar one he had made, which got stolen.
The tune in the Papillions intro seems to be the one by Markus Mueller.

Hi Everybody,
First, thanks for all the possitive feedback on our into!
To answer one of the questions here on this page - I coded this intro back in the good old days... I was the only one in Papillons who could programme / crack games.
Yes - I agree - the music included in this intro was outstanding!!! Oh yes! So big credits to Vlindertjes - we should indeed have credited him in the intro - do doubt. However, there is a story running on the internet, that we stole his original copy at a copy party? This is simply not true! I found the music in a demo and "ripped it" - I didn't know at that time who composed it.
Greetings to all our friends back then!

The music was really wonderful but the intro itself looked a little like "lets take all effects i can code and put them in an intro"

TPI are one of my alltime favourites. I connect a lot of nice memories with them. Even when their mem-move routines were sooooo slow after you enjoyed the intro :D

One of the best european intros. Nice EvS music, thouh it was stolen. It's the colors that really make this intro rock.

I like it, but it is not in my favorite top 5

Oops, a little mistake, you should read EVS/20CC and not EVC from my precedent post ;)
By the way, I didnt knew that the music was stolen, I just though it was used in this cool intro without creediting the real composer. I just remember that most of the demos and others intro in the early 80's use stuff (graphics, musics) without any kind of creditation, what a pity...

The best intro ever, the originality when it came and its combination with the music, makes this intro outstanding.

It is told that the original music was stolen from evs, the disc stolen seemed to contain his only copy of the final tune. Some time later the music appeared in this intro with no credit to him. He later remade the music in the 20cc routine.

The music was made by EVC/20CC, a real classic one, one of my very best prefered one !
By the way I saw that someone reprogrammed this intro with Flash, check this out it deserves it.
|
|
There's an alternative / original version of this intro which features a mild tech tech wave going through the logo, a change of raster colours and a change in font. The music is the same, however the overall impact of the intro doesnt have the same feeling as this classic.
|
|
A damn good intro !!! The music rocks big time !!!
