I don't know how much time i watched (and listened) this intro back then in the golden days! It's deep connected to my brain and heart of scene history! :)

After so many decades, this intro still looks boring.
Yes, it's a classic, that's fine, but it doesn't get to my heart like many other intros.
|
|
"L" like LEGENDARY!
"O" like OMG!
"V" like VIRTUOSIC!
"E" like EPIC!
Short: LOVE
|
|
As boring as 34 years ago...
Dont get the hype on this.

I note the new comments.
YES, music was actually "bugged". In order to optimise, we got a bit over ambitious and removed something that actually makes it sound a bit different.
The strange Dane is Woodo as is stated in the first comment.

Longshot - Yeah, I remember him being on the news here in Ohio and I was like Holy Shit! I remember sending his ass live FM music tapes.....told my old lady, I know that dude!

Not sure how I ended up here, but I've spent the last couple hours here reminiscing... Did you all hear about Strider/Fairlight being chairman of the San Diego Republican party? And that he got in hot water because it was discovered he co-founded the international crime ring known as Fairlight? LOL!

Aloha!
This is the classic and by far the best of the FLT intros. And the sound, with it's slight error is the best version evar.

I like this one and Fairlight.... It was a great time
with so small possibiilies, the C64 had, the time was great, sending out those scrumbling Disks to PLK's in Germany or around the whole World's adresses, BBS'spreading, Calling Cards, Blueboxing, the spreading of the own Cracked Originals faster than Light(!) ;-) , Meetings in Venlo and elsewhere, Hotline, Ikari, Fairlight, F4CG,Papillons (DK),Seven Eleven, before Dynamic Duo, Eaglesoft and so on.... there are too many to mention but the time, >>WOULD NEVER(!) COME BACK! Thanx Commodore!

this is no braindead blubbering. its absolut fantastic ideology. love the way he spread his way of sight. just perfect! yeah! kill kill kill! this thrills!
|
|
And how old was Strider when he wrote this "braindead blubbering"? Nothing can take the "cool atmosphere" outta' this intro.
/Pro-Strider / Pro-Fairlight / Pro-Oldschool!
|
|
all the braindead blubbering from Strider destroyed a lot of the cool atmosphere of this intro, the most famous FLT product done by (which I think is funny) a Danish Fairlight member.. hehehe

This was a classic.
Changeling, I do remember some of your stuff.
It's pretty amazing to look back through some of the demo. The odd thing is I now know where I got the ideas for almost all of the effects I coded into my demos.

I could agree this is not the best intro ever done, but the idea of an intro is a really compact piece of code that adds the crackers sign to the release without adding to much weight. In the days of Gamer's Guide, there was a ranking on size and even if we had access to crunchers better than what most people had, why waste this head start on a bulky intro? It's SUPER efficiently coded and the tune stays with you. It for sure does what an intro should.
I LOVE the Dynamic Duo intros and the ESI one but it's a lot easier to make them good looking if you allow yourself more than 5 blocks ;-)
|
|
This gotta be one of the most used intros ever, as FLT did A LOT of cracks in the period '88-'91. Talking about assembly line, not far from it. Still - they were not the only crackers on the block, but always good quality.
|
|
A true classic. Lack of style from nowadays view doesn´t spoil this gem for the ones who where used to see it in many releases over the years. It´s the sound of greats parts of my youth....

A very few intros give me goosebumps, and this is one!
it's coded by Woodo, but as is stated most of the work is still to be credited to Gollum. He is doing some strange f*ck to make it compact.
The fact that the music is not 100% the original is actually an error in the ripping process. King Fisher/Triad did a piece of work on this once. The original tune uses a low mem adress that normally changes (like xx) but this reference is removed while shortening it.

Yeah. what was most amazing is the SIZE in BYTES of this intro. Has anyone of you guys has a look at the code ?? it's MEGA compact.!
|
|
First time I saw this one was the IK+ crack and it really blew my mind. Great stuff from a great group. (The second best in Sweden).
|

green rasters, invers scroller, fucking sound.
this intro is perfekt shit.
I hate this 1986, 1996, 2006....

Weee, i grew up with that intro. I think it´s one of the most remarkable intros beside the Triad and Ikari intros.
|
|
Yeah I remeber this one! I Played Druid a lot and every time i loaded it up this intro showed up and i would wait few minutes before pressing "SPACE" bar. 80's rocked on the 64!
|
|
Although the intro ISN'T CODED BY STRIDER(!!!), nor STRYDER!! It is coded by WOODO!! But yep it made FairLight(!) famous.

This intro is a textbook example of how intros should be, extremly short and still good looking.
Sure there might have been better looking intros at the time, but i bet you they couldnt beat this ones low memory usage and still look this classy.

Yes this is one for the books here! It brings back the memories of downloading a game that took about 1 hour on your phone line. Unlike now, those are things that this intro reminds you of. This is an immortal intro!

Well, yeah, the intro does not look like much maybe, but it was used so much that people will always remember it. If you hear a bullshit song on the radio long enough, you will hum it eventually.

Sorry I find it rather ordinary. I think in those times, Ikari, Hotline, Papillons or Madsquad intros were better.
Anyway, I would like fairlight.org come back.

YEP ... one of the best!
|
|
Yeah, my favourite Intro.
|
|
I remember seeing this one in the IK+ crack back in the days, and I was amazed... I still think this is a class act, as most of the things FLT did for the c64 !!!

Besides the legendary Eagle Soft Intro and the Ikari intro, this one is no. 3 of the unforgetable classics.
It also makes the Enlightment-Druid 2 tune immortal.

Did the music change slightly also, due to the packing ?

Woodo did this one and Gollum packed it into a fraction of it's original size and produced the intro-maker...
