Fairlight [FLT] 01

Bacchus of FairLight 2015-01-14 15:37
I note the new comments.
YES, music was actually "bugged". In order to optimise, we got a bit over ambitious and removed something that actually makes it sound a bit different.
The strange Dane is Woodo as is stated in the first comment.

Longshot - Yeah, I remember him being on the news here in Ohio and I was like Holy Shit! I remember sending his ass live FM music tapes.....told my old lady, I know that dude!
Longshot/Abyss 2014-12-14 07:34
Not sure how I ended up here, but I've spent the last couple hours here reminiscing... Did you all hear about Strider/Fairlight being chairman of the San Diego Republican party? And that he got in hot water because it was discovered he co-founded the international crime ring known as Fairlight? LOL!
the Transactor/The Alliance 2014-11-30 13:31
FLT, the Good ole Dayz for Intro's and Cracked Warez :)

Shine 2012-11-25 18:52
I really don't know how many hours i watched this LEGENDARY intro ... was always my favorite group years ago :) Brilliant sound forever!
Watchman 2012-05-24 11:11
Aloha!
This is the classic and by far the best of the FLT intros. And the sound, with it's slight error is the best version evar.
stainless steel 2011-11-27 02:55
yep this one is a size killer awesome i think they even modified the musicplayer routine to make it shorter or smthn?
TeRMi of Axenon 2011-11-06 10:13
I like this one and Fairlight.... It was a great time
with so small possibiilies, the C64 had, the time was great, sending out those scrumbling Disks to PLK's in Germany or around the whole World's adresses, BBS'spreading, Calling Cards, Blueboxing, the spreading of the own Cracked Originals faster than Light(!) ;-) , Meetings in Venlo and elsewhere, Hotline, Ikari, Fairlight, F4CG,Papillons (DK),Seven Eleven, before Dynamic Duo, Eaglesoft and so on.... there are too many to mention but the time, >>WOULD NEVER(!) COME BACK! Thanx Commodore!
Uzi-man^^ 2011-04-10 11:54
this is no braindead blubbering. its absolut fantastic ideology. love the way he spread his way of sight. just perfect! yeah! kill kill kill! this thrills!
TWR 2010-09-24 07:50
And how old was Strider when he wrote this "braindead blubbering"? Nothing can take the "cool atmosphere" outta' this intro.
/Pro-Strider / Pro-Fairlight / Pro-Oldschool!
Rough 2010-09-23 23:27
all the braindead blubbering from Strider destroyed a lot of the cool atmosphere of this intro, the most famous FLT product done by (which I think is funny) a Danish Fairlight member.. hehehe

This was a classic.

Changeling, I do remember some of your stuff.

It's pretty amazing to look back through some of the demo. The odd thing is I now know where I got the ideas for almost all of the effects I coded into my demos.
Bacchus/FairLight 2009-01-25 00:34
I could agree this is not the best intro ever done, but the idea of an intro is a really compact piece of code that adds the crackers sign to the release without adding to much weight. In the days of Gamer's Guide, there was a ranking on size and even if we had access to crunchers better than what most people had, why waste this head start on a bulky intro? It's SUPER efficiently coded and the tune stays with you. It for sure does what an intro should.

I LOVE the Dynamic Duo intros and the ESI one but it's a lot easier to make them good looking if you allow yourself more than 5 blocks ;-)
HBH-ZTH 2008-08-08 11:25
This gotta be one of the most used intros ever, as FLT did A LOT of cracks in the period '88-'91. Talking about assembly line, not far from it. Still - they were not the only crackers on the block, but always good quality.
lego 2008-02-20 12:04
A true classic. Lack of style from nowadays view doesnīt spoil this gem for the ones who where used to see it in many releases over the years. Itīs the sound of greats parts of my youth....

Bacchus/FairLight 2007-04-17 09:02
A very few intros give me goosebumps, and this is one!

it's coded by Woodo, but as is stated most of the work is still to be credited to Gollum. He is doing some strange f*ck to make it compact.

The fact that the music is not 100% the original is actually an error in the ripping process. King Fisher/Triad did a piece of work on this once. The original tune uses a low mem adress that normally changes (like $02xx) but this reference is removed while shortening it.

Yo!, remember me Mitch and Woodoo?????

Probably not :) but Cal Games was an awesone release for ESI. Kill a Zionist for Mommy!
Goblin/Science 451 2006-10-07 23:06

So great.
Visible / Vakuum 2006-08-17 15:05
BORING INTRO !!! FAMOUS GROUP !!!
Reset/Transcom 2006-08-05 14:26
Yeah. what was most amazing is the SIZE in BYTES of this intro. Has anyone of you guys has a look at the code ?? it's MEGA compact.!
TWR 2006-03-07 15:48
First time I saw this one was the IK+ crack and it really blew my mind. Great stuff from a great group. (The second best in Sweden).
Hades 2006-03-01 00:37
green rasters, invers scroller, fucking sound.
this intro is perfekt shit.
I hate this 1986, 1996, 2006....

c64~4~ever 2005-11-24 20:32
fairlight made one of the best demo.. I remeber that one with 48(fourty eight) sprites simuntaneously on the screen
2005-11-13 11:39
I hate this intro!
Lexi|exFLT 2005-09-01 05:36
Weee, i grew up with that intro. I think itīs one of the most remarkable intros beside the Triad and Ikari intros.
SPeedy 2005-08-14 22:16
Yeah I remeber this one! I Played Druid a lot and every time i loaded it up this intro showed up and i would wait few minutes before pressing "SPACE" bar. 80's rocked on the 64!
Well.. 2005-05-21 22:55
Although the intro ISN'T CODED BY STRIDER(!!!), nor STRYDER!! It is coded by WOODO!! But yep it made FairLight(!) famous.
Kickback 2005-05-18 05:43
Another one of those great intros that goes down in the history books. I think this intro made Stryder more popular then his cracking lol!!!

WE LOVE YOU STRYDER!!!
:-)
Chotaire 2005-05-11 00:11
dum dum dum... dum dum dum....
Stainless Steel / [Paramount] 2005-05-06 16:16
This intro is a textbook example of how intros should be, extremly short and still good looking.
Sure there might have been better looking intros at the time, but i bet you they couldnt beat this ones low memory usage and still look this classy.
Mulle 2005-01-05 16:44
Nostalgie!!! :)
Zadex / Ex-Tristar 2004-09-14 20:34
A really classic... I remember this one from my beginning of a great time on da good old c64...

Unfortunately Fairlight quit all activities, even on the pc this summer... They are alltime Legends!
Kickback/Venom 2004-08-04 22:09
Yes this is one for the books here! It brings back the memories of downloading a game that took about 1 hour on your phone line. Unlike now, those are things that this intro reminds you of. This is an immortal intro!
Mr.Mouse 2004-07-28 09:39
Well, yeah, the intro does not look like much maybe, but it was used so much that people will always remember it. If you hear a bullshit song on the radio long enough, you will hum it eventually.
blackice 2004-07-22 21:34
FLT still sucks. the dumbest group ever although i admit they had some decent releases.
Hades 2004-07-12 22:31
Yes Capitaine, the intro is very lame.

Capitaine 2004-07-11 04:49
Sorry I find it rather ordinary. I think in those times, Ikari, Hotline, Papillons or Madsquad intros were better.
Anyway, I would like fairlight.org come back.
janer 2004-07-04 21:06
YEP ... one of the best!
Lexi 2004-06-14 15:54
Yeah, my favourite Intro.
TWR 2004-05-11 11:36
I remember seeing this one in the IK+ crack back in the days, and I was amazed... I still think this is a class act, as most of the things FLT did for the c64 !!!
Sokratekk 2004-05-06 10:17
Besides the legendary Eagle Soft Intro and the Ikari intro, this one is no. 3 of the unforgetable classics.
It also makes the Enlightment-Druid 2 tune immortal.
sim1 2004-04-26 21:40
Legends NEVER Die!!!!!!!
moRR/Lords/FBR 2004-04-22 22:58
Man, this is a true classic... such a memorable tune.
Draz 2004-03-25 11:31
Who will ever forget this intro... Everytime you hear the tune you think of this intro...
Kyle 2004-03-21 12:00
Did the music change slightly also, due to the packing ?
Woodo - Additional code by Gollum 2004-03-08 20:14
Woodo did this one and Gollum packed it into a fraction of it's original size and produced the intro-maker...
